Broadcasting Complaints

Close up of letters on a computer keyboard

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) handles complaints concerning programmes or advertisements by Radio and TV broadcasters licensed in Ireland. Its Compliance Committee investigates and decides upon complaints made by the public.

Complaints are directed to the broadcaster in the first instance. Complaints should be made in the manner outlined in the broadcaster’s Code of Practice for Complaints Handling. The BAI complaints guide provides the relevant contact details and links for each broadcaster.

All broadcasters must have a code of practice in place for handling complaints. You can refer your complaint to the BAI:

  • If a broadcaster does not comply with their Code of Practice, or
  • If you are not satisfied with their response.

Complaints Process

The BAI has developed a guide to the complaints process which details how broadcasters and the BAI will handle complaints.
